Jolly LLB -movie review

Simple yet funny trailers of Jolly LLB excited me as an audience ,but blame it on the sea of satellite channels and the repeated airing of trailers or the movie itself ,the simple was stretched a little too far ,predictability slowly brimming out of the cup.

Jolly LLB is a story of a young lawyer, his stand in the corrupt judiciary and his definition of a lawyer. Somehow this ‘social satire’ and the combination of Boman Irani with Arshad Warsi made me anticipate a humorous take on the subject but sadly the expectation slowly slipped into boredom.

The movie had its moments with the audience sometimes holding a smile with funny Haldiram or terrorist scene, and at times clapping furiously proving their solidarity to the strong stance of truth against lies and manipulation but it didn't maintain its momentum.

In today’s movies, one monologue that too of social flavor becomes hardly bearable, this movie had three of them at the climax, while individually they represented good acting but collectively made me sink even deeper into my seat.

The story was highly realistic and simple but again very foreseeable. The cinematography was very natural given the courtroom scenes. Also following the trend of movies now-a-days, the second half weighed stronger than the first .Amrita Rao’s character was yet another insubstantial medium to project average songs. The background music was appropriate and Hans ki chaal and Jhooth boliya the only two descent numbers.

The acting department was very strong with the awesome faker (just to be clear, a compliment) Boman Irani who was highly convincing .Arshad Warsi (Jolly) a wonderful job as the lead. Saurabh Shukla (the judge) and Manoj Pahwa and Sanjai Mishra of ‘office office’ fame were spot on as the supporting cast.

In a nutshell, Jolly LLB is a fabulous satire on the politics around the court room but would I watch it again, I’m not so sure.

PS- (updated later on)
This is one movie , which seemed different in the movie hall and entirely different at home! My opinion seems to have taken a drastic turn.Maybe my mindset during the initial watch wasn't the best ,I'm saying that because, I have found myself re-watching this movie numerous times now! It is THAT good! Yes, i still don't enjoy the unnecessary songs, but the way the plot deals with courtroom reality and captures the real life dragged on high profile cases mingled with truth-must-win-against-the-corrupt is simply fantastic!
I think the last courtroom seen is incredibly power packed with superb performances and just the end the movie needs.Another mention must be made of Arshad Warsi's character which is as real as it gets (not the perfect hero but a human being) and the bodyguard scene ,both of which reflect great writing.
Jolly Llb is definitely one hell of a classic movie!
