Dabangg 2 review

Robin Hood Pandey is back, and back to clean the city in his khaki wardi! This desi action comedy sequel takes a ‘transfer’ from lalganj to Kanpur city for Mr.Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan) to make it big and the antagonist he has to face ..er shake is the well known Bachchan bhaiya(Prakash Raj) ,the goon in town hoping to get elected in the local government.

The movie starts in the true Dabangg fashion with amazing fight sequences interspersed with comic elements. It satisfies and delights the large fan base the actor has earned himself. I wouldn’t shy away from calling him as the desi superman what with the superhuman stunts!

The story by Dilip Shukla is simple, contrary to the many twists in the first film, that is why the movies shifts from the heavy emotional to the comic side with the funny dialogues, but being a series movie, Dabangg 2 bears similarity to its original film owing to the manner of Salman’s entry sequence, some funny minor characters, Pandey ji’s iconic chedi singh dialogue, bare (awesome!) chest combat, political influences, small town cinematography and dialect.

Dabangg 2 also at times without much screen time parks itself in a justifying mode where Chulbul Pandey defends the cop community but where the movie at one place cracks a joke at women’s expense it retracts through showcasing Chulbul as a husband and a brief appearance by Mahie Gill.

Arbaaz Khan Productions’ Dabangg 2 unapologetically, in minor doses, endorses a lot of brands in course of the story which may seem new or odd to the audience. It also showcases insignificant appearances by quite a few television actors. In terms of the action, for which the movie is known, it starts on an awesome note but scales down and ends on an okay note. This may be due to high expectation from the ultra rich blood and gore filled last combat between Chedi Singh (Sonu Sood) and Chulbul Pandey in the preceding movie.

In terms of acting, the cast ensemble performs pretty well with special clapping for Bachchan bhaiya (Prakash Raj) and Genda (Deepak Dobriyal). Salman Khan does his usual fantastic and Vinod Khanna , Arbaaz and Sonakshi are good too.

Pandeyji seeti ,Dagabaaz and Fevicol are the top and highly entertaining numbers from the movie , and the background score by Sajid-Wajid  is absolutely perfect ,hard core and amazing.
Arbaaz Khan’s directorial debut showcases a good job done by him and maybe he will not be able to sell as many fevicols but surely aviators’ sales are going to sky rocket soon!

  1. I agree with you and specially with "the movie starts in the true Dabangg fashion". It's a template film and does not cater much in regards to variety and freshness. If you want to know what else I thought of Dabangg 2, my review is at: http://wp.me/p1XXP8-9M
