Jab Tak Hai Jaan
Whistles echo
in the theatre hall and enters Samar Anand(Shah Rukh Khan) in the picturesque
opening credits' frame. Samar- a daring and excellent bomb diffuser-kick starts
the movie adhering to the contemporary tradition of flashback. Jab tak hai jaan
is the story about love and time, one of its dialogue describes it wonderfully,”har
ishq ka ek samay hota hai”.
This last
celluloid art work of Yash Chopra as expected treats the audience to some of
the absolutely breathtaking locales of London and ladakh . Even the Yash Chopra
patent ‘khets’ (fields) make appearance in the movie only now instead of them
being from Punjab they here are in the form of wine orchards. The incredible
cinematography rules the movie and what compliments it perfectly is the most amazing
background score by A.R.Rehman . The fresh and good looking Anushka Sharma and
Katrina Kaif with their amazing figures and great garbs only further add spice
to the serene backgrounds.
Jab Tak Hai
Jaan in the first half is good, thanks to the unfolding of the story and
beautiful introduction of the characters but it starts becoming a little
stretched with songs appearing in close successions. But the real trouble
starts in the second half where the movie becomes absolutely unbearable. The movie holds unnecessary length as the
pace of actions becomes similar to that of a turtle. The reason for this is the
sheer weak storyline which from the point of its knowledge to the audience
seems ridiculous.
The casting
of the movie is appropriate given the fact that Katrina Kaif acts well for her
part of a heavily religious daddy’s girl and Anushka Sharma a great job for her
role of a super athletic, modern and courageous aspiring documentary maker. But
we don’t get to see anything hugely different from either of the actors given
their repetitive characters especially in the case of Anushka.
Shah Rukh
Khan on his part seems to be blazing all guns, marking the tremendous modernity
to his portrayal of his character with more than one subtle lip locks. He does
a very good job in the acting department. The supporting characters don’t get
much screen space in the movie due to King Khan and the two leading ladies but
they display decent performance whenever they do appear on screen.
Jab Tak Hai
Jaan is an average movie due to its bad story. All in all there can be only two
reasons why you have or are going to watch the movie-
1. You are a King Khan fan or 2. You don’t want to miss Yash Chopra’s last
beautiful romance story.
