Piku-movie review!

Shit Pod is probably the area where i have uttered 'eureka' most number of times. And that is probably what attracted me towards Piku. It uses the hilarious condition of constipation to complement the sweet depiction of relationship between a 30 something adult and a 90 years old child. The story revolves around Bhaskor Banerji (Amitabh Bachchan), an old stubborn and irritating bengali man with constipation troubles and his daughter Piku(Deepika Padukone) who is unable to move on in life because of her father and his tantrums and Rana Chaudhary(Irrfan Khan), an owner of a taxi company , who gets involved with the family on a road trip.

But the story does not just fixate on the relationship of father-daughter, it also in a subtle fashion gives a tribute to the bengali culture, infuses ideas of women's independence and tries to decode the concept of home.Yes,believe me, it is actually pretty amazing that Shoojit Sircar captures all this with semi liquid potty troubles as a base :P
The story is beautifully written. And it is here where dialogue writer Juhi Chaturvedi must be congratulated. Not just for the unpretentious yet hilarious dialogues, but also for the beautiful mish mash of serious and funny.

The acting department boasts of stellar performances. The ease with which Mr.Bachchan transforms into a Bengali man is just fantastic. Equally brilliant are Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan who share a sweet chemistry. Moushumi Chatterjee too is a really wonderful supporting character. The acting is on point and the characters absolutely relatable.

Talking about the music, Piku doesn't have any addictive numbers.numbers. In fact the journey song is probably the only one which catches your attention.

I just wish not only this but other movies too, could tone down their product placements. It instantly breaks the connection.
Overall Shoojit Sircar's Piku is a pretty good watch!

Watch it for-
1.Amitabh Bachchan 2.And the chemistry between the whole cast.
