Were the Jetsons the real inventors of LCD?

                                             
There is no way we talk of future and not mention Hannah-Barbera production’s The Jetsons-The family of the future. A truly visionary series,this cartoon  was based in 21^st century with its original run in 1963-64.Imagine, what must have seemed like an interesting idea then is part of our reality now. We have the escalators, the LCD tvs and video calling. To think they thought of these in the 60s!

What makes fiction so appealing? It’s ability to show a world incredibly unbelievable or unbelievably incredible. And since the writers get inspired by reality at times, it is probably not a far stretch to say that some of the inventors were possibly inspired by fiction. These incredible and unbelievable fantasies are now materializing in real life ,and it is super exciting!

 Keeping aside the obsession with the weird silver-metallic-edgy outfits and flying cars look at these inventions that are already a part of our daily reality and others are soon going to join the ranks.

3D printer-

Although this isn’t the first mention of the technology but Shaka Laka boom boom (Don’t pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about :P ) ,the kids’ show was based on the idea that the kid- Sanju had a magic pencil and whatever he drew on his paper became a tangible object. Replace the pencil and paper with computer and a 3d printer and now you can get the physical 3d object right in front of you! *amazed*

Moving Display Pictures-

There have been reports that Facebook is planning to have 7 second videos as profile pictures(videos?) . Now any potterhead would immediately holler at me pointing at the very interesting and vivid display pictures in the Daily Prophet. A lot like vine and gifs , these are soon going to be a feature of our Facebook timelines! I mean I can feel the coolness  and madness at the same time.

Hoverboard-

So obviously our generation has some serious issues with walking.As if the escalators were not enough :P

No, we do not want to turn into those but hell , why walk when you can hover! This technology among others (like google glass) was made popular  by ofcourse the cult classic Back to the Future 2 back in 1989.

 And guess what year they fed in the car 2015! It is 2015. Ladies and gentlemen behold!!!

Now before you even start listing the ifs, buts and nots , let me ask you for a moment to move beyond the level of feasibility and preliminary status of these products and acknowledge the fact that these are soon going to be our everyday gadget. The very fact that objects or ideas which were only a super cool imagination in fiction and now are on their way to reality is pure AWESOME.

I mean lets not forget this was computer a few decades ago!

And for some future requests, can we have the  invisibility cloak or Mr India’s version: bracelet or perhaps the remote from the movie Click, maybe a portable instant transporter?
