Why Keep New Year Resolutions!

Source-raleighneurosurgical.com

They say there are two types of people in the world. One, who are jolly excited about New Year and two, who don’t give a shit about it. Are you saying ‘humph! I’m a combination of the two’ or I’m a bit more this than that .Well, sure I totally endorse the Taare Zameen Par philosophy –every child…er adult is different.
Whichever one you are, today is the day before those days when you’ll probably get the year wrong. 1st January 2016.And while a lot of people have already made resolutions either mentally or otherwise , others can’t believe how people fool themselves each year with resolutions knowing there fulfillment is as rare as you not checking Facebook. So it is better we making no resolutions no?

Not really, let me put a case for all the resolutions. During and after the decades of World Wars, people went into this existential crisis which essentially meant that they couldn’t understand the meaning of one’s existence given the massive, ruthless bloodshed around them, making life seem meaningless. Although we aren’t living in similar conditions, though some parts of the earth’s populations are, we as humans still question our purpose here on earth. And to prevent falling into oblivion we ‘hope’ and think positive and live for the moment trying to do things we love.
                                                                               Jab Jago Tab Savera.
And this is why we keep coming up with reasons for new beginnings. “kal subeh se pakka ye karungi” or “ from this birthday I will …” and in this scheme of finding new windows for change , the Gregorian Calendar’s First Day fits the bill logically .I mean think about it , what could be more new than a new year. And resolutions are nothing but goals which can only help you better your life the way you want to, one little step at a time.
Now you are probably thinking “oh shush, this is just a few days -hullabaloo” , but hey isn’t a few day of Productivity January better than Non-motivated January. So on this day (which in childhood I used to think was everyone’s holiday!) , I urge you to take reigns of your life to fulfil all that you were unable to. Karm kar puttar , phal ki chinta mat kar !Think of the glass half full and make goals.

Although ,I’m not google but here are some of the aids to help you keep up with your resolutions!

1.       Take a bath.

If you haven’t already ,do it! Believe me , bathing changes things, you are less lethargic, refreshed ,clean and in ready mode to stay happy.

2.       Exercise.

If your aim was exercise then you can check out a lot of apps, youtube videos , turn up your favourite number on your phone or simply go outside and begin!
But exercise is a great aid as well , for while exercising  our body releases  endorphins or the happy hormones which will definitely help you tackle all your resolutions with a healthy mind and a healthy body.

3.       Block ‘em

If you are one of those people who find it troublesome to get off the internet or get distracted by it (FB YOUTUBE ) then you can check out the extensions like StayFocusd ,Leechblock ,or this Fb timeline remover as featured by Buzzfeed in this article ,where you can set time limits and for that period your specified pages will be locked. No more watching Online series while searching for General Knowledge 2015 :P

4.       Maintain a Journal

This is perhaps the most important aid for your New Year Resolutions. This post by Upworthy showcases the supreme benefits of keeping a journal. Writing down your feelings into words is crucial for your mental health. It helps in resolving issues, making plans, taking actions and keeping track.

5.       Just chiyaaaaal

And although making and sticking to resolutions may seem a tedious task to some, remember to have fun. Here is a little help.

Have an awesome 2016 you guys!!!

Ps-I don't own any of the images.
