Dilwale-Movie Review

So two movies released at the box office today and to be honest I wasn’t super excited for either of them.I'm definitely more excited about the promotions than the movies, you see on one hand was Sanjay Leela Bhansali, an overt lover of magnanimity and cinematography whose plot and execution gets lost and therefore his movies becoming pretty much a like a bowl of curd, you don’t really know when it might turn out to be sour! On the other hand was Rohit Shetty who is like Cadbury Bubbly ,the sight is not at all pleasing but you try it anyways, basically a car maniac who is mistaken for a director. Well I didn’t want to be sad and disappointed hence chose to laugh while expecting brain farts.

Dilwale is a movie starring Audi , Hummer and Bmw with support cast SRK, Kajol ,Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. Shetty makes an effort to make the movie a wholesome entertainment putting in doses of action, romance and comedy, but unfortunately seems to have forgotten the common base –the plot. Dilwale is hard to explain, for if I say anything at all, the only plot  in its entirety will be disclosed. The writer Yunus Sajawal offers no attachment for the audience with the story and the plot is highly predictable. Moreover many scenes in the movie are directly lifted from various Hollywood movies or shows, like How I met your mother, 50 first dates, Love actually and Pyaar ka Punchnama, which probably also shows my love for rom com but hey that’s not why we are here :P

The only relief one gets in this plain story is through the comedy. The comedy dialogues by Sajid-Farhad are hilarious. The brilliant timing and excellent delivery by the awesome cast of Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Mishra, Johnny Lever, Mukesh Tiwari, Varun Sharma and Pankaj Tripathi makes the comedy the hero of the movie. Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon do a good job in the movie over all.The title ‘Dilwale’ and of course Shahrukh-Kajol duo, made the audience expect romance to be the star but the movie lacked depth and soul. The music by Pritam lends no helping hand for the romance either, with songs being only average.

And the reason for this is the director. Irrfan Khan did overacting in Jazba due to bad direction similarly SRK-Kajol , who act good in the movie look awkward in some scenes due to Rohit Shetty. The screenplay is just fine, with the movie without much story seeming lengthy especially during the second half. Some scenes like the emotional connect between SRK-Varun and the dance romance between SRK-Kajol are unnecessary. On top of it the movie lacked logic in some parts for example; wouldn’t you get really ,badly hurt if a speeding car hits you?!

All in all , you know Rohit Shetty kind of movies, they never peak at all ,besides a movie can’t be good where Boman Irani gets beaten up! :/ :P
